Civil Service Strollers Football Club are a senior non-league football team from Edinburgh, Scotland currently playing in the Lowland League. The Strollers play their home games at Christie Gillies Park. Their home strip colours are red, with white shorts and red socks.
The team is currently managed by Gary Jardine.
History
Founded in 1908 under the name Edinburgh Civil Service Football Club, their first ground was the Stenhouse Stadium, which later became a venue for greyhound racing, before moving to Pinkhill Stadium in the 1920s. They moved to the Edinburgh Area Civil Service Sports Association in Muirhouse in 1957, where they continue to play their home games, the ground is commonly known as Christie Gillies Park.
In 2000–01, the club entered into a partnership with Talloaks to develop youth football, with the Talloaks youth teams taking on the name 'CS Strollers'. At the start of the 2001–02 season, the partnership was extended to cover all other ages of organised football. 2001–02 saw the Strollers having, for the first time, a fully incorporated women's team.
Ahead of the 2016–17 season, they were elected to fill one of two vacancies in the Lowland Football League.
Their former management team was Alex Cunningham and Ricky Clapperton until Gary Jardine took over for the 2018–19 season.
Civil Service Strollers var oprindeligt et hold for embedsmænd i den britiske regering, der arbejdede i London-forstaden Whitehall. De første registrerede kampe for klubben blev spillet i 1893-94-sæsonen. I løbet af de tidlige år spillede holdet hovedsageligt venskabskampe mod andre amatørhold i London-området.
I 1907 sluttede Civil Service Strollers sig til London League, som de vandt to gange i træk i 1911 og 1912. De forlod London League i 1913 og tiltrådte i stedet Athenian League. De vandt Athenian League fem gange i træk mellem 1920 og 1925.
I 1935 fusionerede Civil Service Strollers med en anden London-klub, Streatham United, for at danne Civil Service Strollers Streatham United. Det nye hold vandt Athenian League igen i 1936 og 1938. I 1946 ænrede holdet navn tilbage til Civil Service Strollers.
I 1951 sluttede Civil Service Strollers sig til Isthmian League. De blev forfremmet til Isthmian League Division One i 1968, men rykkede ned igen i 1972. De blev forfremmet igen i 1982 og har spillet i Isthmian League Division One lige siden.
Civil Service Strollers har nået FA Cuppens første runde flere gange, men er aldrig nået til anden runde. De har også nået FA Trophy femte runde ved to lejligheder, i 1973-74 og 2004-05.
Klubbens mest berømte spiller er David Platt, der spillede for klubben som ungdomsspiller, før han gik videre til at repræsentere England ved VM i 1990.
